Autumn Acres

Dolores & I are both very fortunate to have the opportunity to design quilts for magazines & other companies. It's no secret that I love scrappy, intricately-pieced designs. But sometimes, I'm ready for simple, mindless sewing. . .the kind of project where the fabric does all the talking and I can just feed pieces through the machine almost without thought.

Autumn Acres came about when I was just exhausted--too much going on at home with kids preparing to move out, too much going on with too many projects.

So when I saw these gorgeous fabrics from Marcus, I just wanted to sew.

So I started planning, but found I wanted a few more blues, a few more reds, a few more of everything. That's when these arrived:

So what did it all become?

This:

Autumn Acres, featured in the September, 2014 issue of McCall's Quilting.

And, it even made the cover!
