Autumn Acres

Dolores & I are both very fortunate to have the opportunity to design quilts for magazines & other companies. It's no secret that I love scrappy, intricately-pieced designs. But sometimes, I'm ready for simple, mindless sewing. . .the kind of project where the fabric does all the talking and I can just feed pieces through the machine almost without thought.

Autumn Acres came about when I was just exhausted--too much going on at home with kids preparing to move out, too much going on with too many projects.

So when I saw these gorgeous fabrics from Marcus, I just wanted to sew.

So I started planning, but found I wanted a few more blues, a few more reds, a few more of everything. That's when these arrived:

So what did it all become?

Autumn Acres, featured in the September, 2014 issue of McCall's Quilting.

And, it even made the cover!

So, now you can make your own Autumn Acres and indulge in some easy, relaxing sewing. Just order our kit and get ready to have some fun!

Leave a comment below & tell us what your favorite type of "relaxation" sewing is. Two lucky winners will receive a free copy of the September 2014 McCall's Quilting magazine. Please leave your comment below. Do not email comments as only comments left on the blog will be eligible for the prizes. Winners will be randomly selected on July 29, 2014.

Strings and log cabins the sloppy way; one long strip and place the "chimney" center piece on top of the strip, sew and go! Thanks for the wonderful chance and congratulations on a great quilt!

I love to sew strings to foundation paper, so relaxing as is hand quilting. Congrats on making the cover.
